I have never
heard of the condition Placenta Percreta before. This is the rarest and most
fatal form of placenta accreta and occurs when the placenta implants into the
lower portion of the uterus and can invade the bladder.
This occurs in 1
in approximately 500 pregnancies and sadly, 1 in 7 women with Placenta Percreta does not make
it.
Gina Walker had
this condition and had to do a blood transfusion in which almost 35 gallons of
blood was used to save her life. The
miracle mom is now showing off her healthy baby girl and telling her story.

So much can go
wrong in a pregnancy and when you come out on the other side with your health
and healthy baby, it is nothing short of God’s favour.
This life threatening condition needs to be publicized more in the medical community. I too barely survived Placenta Percreta. I have never publicly spoken about it but its time to share with other expectant mothers who are suffering with this condition. After having 4 c-sections spanning over 16 yrs all sons , I learned I was pregnant with a daughter after my amnio at 16 weeks. We were over the moon for 2 weeks then I start bleeding my OBGYN does a suture that helps, 2 weeks later I bleed again I see a perinatologist they do testing and say I have placenta accreta and to be on strict bedrest.10 days later I start bleeding heavily I see my OBGYN for a sono and I hemmoraghed on the table, I went to OR for suture again and that's when they realized it was life threatening. I was transported for emergency surgery, I had my uterus removed with my child inside, she did not.survive, I lost half of my cervix and bladder. During the intensive surgery I had my entire blood supply depleted and received transfusions. The surgeons also cut my right ureter which was not discovered until 6wks later. Needless to say it was a hellacious recovery mentally and physically. So many procedures and surgeries followed it took about 2 yrs to recover. I urge anyone with the same initial complications to find a respected high risk doctor to get you and your baby safely through this. God bless all of you!!!!!

Wow, it's good to know that I'm not alone! I also had placenta percreta, but my initial diagnosis was placenta accreta at 18 weeks. I was in the hospital November 4, 2011 with the intention of delivering on Jan. 9th, 2012. I delivered at 26 weeks on Nov 13, 2011, my son saved my life. He was born 1lb 14oz and 13in long. He spent 4 months in the NICU! I spent almost 1 month in the hospital and recovered faster then expected. I had a full hysterectomy and had my bladder reconstructed. You are right, we should bring this to people's attention, I think it happens more often then recorded.
